Pressure Measurement Applications
The insights made possible by the Millar Mikro-Tip's accurate, high fidelity, beat-by-beat blood pressure measurement form the basis for many successful cardiovascular research programs. Mikro-Tip catheters can be quickly delivered via peripheral vessels like the carotid and femoral arteries for routine blood pressure monitoring. Millar catheters also provide a simple, highly accurate method for measuring tumor interstitial fluid pressures in cancer tissues.
Pressure Measurement Applications
Streamlining IFP Research Protocols
Elevated interstitial fluid pressure (IFP) in human and rodent solid tumors has been recognized as an indicator of reduced therapy response and decreased free survival rates. Millar's Mikro-Tip catheters provide a simple, accurate method for measuring tumor interstitial fluid pressures and verifying IFP response in a variety of models.
As validated by Ugur Ozerdem and Alan Hargens in their publication "A simple method for measuring interstitial fluid pressure in cancer tissues,"1 IFP measurements made by Millar catheters are “simple and…equal to those provided by the well-established, wick-in-needle technique."
To date, Millar's SPR-1000, SPR-320 and SPR-524 high-fidelity pressure catheters have all been used to deliver accurate, high-quality IFP tumor measurements.
If you are currently performing these measurements using traditional fluid filled systems, contact Millar to learn how our Mikro-Tip pressure catheters can provide a simpler alternative and streamline your research protocols.

Delivering In-Depth Insights in Blood Pressure Studies
The in-depth insights into total cardiovascular function obtained by Millar's accurate, high-fidelity Mikro-Tip® catheters form the basis of many successful cardiovascular research programs. A variety of advanced applications that demand reliable high-fidelity data use Millar products and solutions for a more complete assessment of cardiovascular parameters.
Arterial blood pressure, which provides a measure of systemic blood pressure, is the most common method for monitoring basic cardiovascular parameters. Mikro-Tip catheters can be quickly delivered via peripheral vessels like the carotid and femoral arteries for routine blood pressure monitoring.
The high-fidelity waveforms produced by these beat-by-beat blood pressure measurements are used to derive mean arterial pressure (MAP), systolic and diastolic pressures, and pulse pressure. These parameters are ideal for both acute and chronic cardiovascular monitoring.
For even more in-depth analysis, ventricular blood pressure and/or PV loops also can be monitored to provide a more complete assessment of total cardiovascular function.
